Decided to entertain some gaming after many years without touching a single title.Xonotic is a free and fast-paced first person shooter for Windows. I'm running the game on Manjaro KDE (DE compositor is off and game is not installed). Open up a terminal and use the rm command to delete /Xonotic. rm -rf /Xonotic The core game files for Xonotic are completely gone from your Linux PC. However, there are still traces of the game on your PC. Is the hardware just too weak? Judging by Xonotic's system requirements, I would like to think my system is at least good enough to run the game without significant hiccups in very low settings. But no matter how low I set the graphics, there are always some random fps drops, stutterings or extreme lag. Lowering/disabling some dynamic lights, shadows, reflections, blur effects and other post-processing stuff helps raise the average fps, but does nothing for the stuttering or lag, even at the lowest resolution.
I'm not sure if the hardware is just not good enough or if something is not well configured or if I'm encountering some kind of bug. This is happening on almost all singleplayer levels, but most severely on the 18th (Oilrig). This map is literally unplayable and I don't understand why because it's not even the most complex map so far. I'm stuck at this level and can't progress. Has anyone tried running the game on identical hardware? How was your experience? Any useful tweaks that might help? Hardware acceleration is enabled on my system, and I've made sure there is no power saving policy getting in the way. However, I have noticed that the game never uses more than 25% of my CPU times, even if I disable the in-game feature to save CPU time for other apps and set the CPU frequency scaling to the "performance" governor in command line. (it's a single-threaded game duh!) Total system's Ram usage during gaming (other aps closed) typically doesn't exceed 2GBs despite the integrated gpu reliance on system memory.Īsking here because official forums don't seem very active. Can hit consistent ~30-40fps in most maps with low quality settings at 1920x1080.
